Visit by Friends from Germany

For the first time in the history of Holywell Spiritualist Church in Holywell North Wales, we were thrilled to entertain some overseas visitors. We were approached in 2022 by a group of eight German Spiritualists who asked if we would host them and put on some events for them in July of this year. They said they would bring their own translator. We were surprised to learn that there are only a few Spiritualist churches in Germany. We were honoured that our German visitors chose our church to learn more about Spiritualism. Working with the German team led by Mr Dieter Wiergowski, our President Ralph Higgs put together a detailed programme of events for the visitors to enjoy during their visit on the 10th to the 17th of July of this year.

On the first day of their visit, there was a demonstration of mediumship by medium Maria Stoyes followed by a break for lunch in Ruthin Castle. In the afternoon there were more demonstrations by mediums Lynne Wilson and Max. On the second day the Group enjoyed a sightseeing four of North Wales taking in Conwy Castle and Bodnant Gardens. On the third day, the Group came to our church in Holywell where they enjoyed a morning session titled ‘Throat Chakra for Spiritual development’ given by medium Gina Diamond followed by an afternoon session about ‘soul retrieval’ given my medium Penny Barber. On the fourth day, there was a morning session titled ‘develop your clairvoyant skills’ organised by medium Hilda Atkinson and an afternoon session led by Mystic Ron Hayes. On the fifth day, the group ventured on a train to Chester where they went on a boat trip on the River Dee, explored the shops on “The Rows” and visited the Cathedral.

On the final day, Sunday, 16th July, the group returned to Holywell church for a morning session ‘Psychometry and working with colour’ put on by mediums Jackie and Steve. After lunch and a visit to the famous St Winifred’s Well in Holywell, the Group’s visit concluded with a general get together with church members and some healing sessions, culminating in attendance at our regular Sunday evening Divine Service followed by a leaving party. The German visitors thoroughly enjoyed their spiritual experiences with us and of course, our Welsh hospitality. So much so, that the visitors said they would love to come again!
